As much as we like to think of ourselves as grown ups, we do "on occasion" (read: frequently) spill. And we write on ourselves. And we drop things. Which has lead us to learn a few tricks when it comes to removing stains from our clothes. Because if you're going to spend your entire budget on a killer dress you can't live without, you want to make sure that it lasts more than one wear. Am I right? Ink The fastest way to get ink out of a piece of clothing (hello, carrying a pen without a cap) is to use alcohol. Don't waste your Kirkland vodka (seriously, that stuff is legit)- instead, try hand sanitizer or hairspray. Seriously. Lay the item flat and add the alcohol-based product. Be careful, as it works so well that sometimes the ink can pull out of the fabric and spread to a wider area if you're not on top of it. Did you know that the internet is more than just kitten videos? (Katie 2 would like to say that goat videos are vastly superior to cat/kitten videos.) I know- we're shocked. Other things we find shocking? How atrociously bad a lot of the "career advice" available online is. This is especially true when it comes to shoes. We think we've previously mentioned that work appropriate shoes were one of our biggest struggles when it came to dressing for our careers early on. There were many factors that contributed to this being such a struggle but one of the biggest was the fact that we're pedestrian commuters. Learning the difference between commuting shoes and office shoes proved harder than it seems. Also, because there is so much hostility surrounding work shoes on workwear blogs (looking at you, Corporette!) and commuting in what's comfortable and changing at the office it was especially hard to figure out what is truly inappropriate and what out of touch anony...

This post is probably more appropriately titled "Career Leggings: What to Wear When You've Given Up but Still Need to Look Put Together", but Katie 1 is actually wearing career leggings to work today and isn't ready to admit that she's given up yet.  Also, she feels very conflicted about her current state of leggings at work wearing because until last Wednesday she considered this particular item of clothing to be weekend-only attire (or worn to work the day after Thanksgiving when she's the only one there). Literally everything but leggings seemed like way to much effort to wear. A while back, Katie 1 told you about her fashion disaster . At 5’4”, perhaps that tall suit wasn’t such a great idea. But this foray down memory lane gave us a great idea for our next common suiting myth: a tailor can fix anything. Fact: tailors are miracle workers. Katie 2 has seem some miraculous work on some pretty janky bridesmaid dresses that turned out to be downright flattering when nipped and tucked in the right places. And there have been many a pieces that didn’t fit quite as well after a few pounds appeared overnight and a tailor was able to let out just a bit to keep that classic piece in rotation a while longer. But not everything can be saved. We want to take this opportunity to not only let you know that a tailor can’t fix some things, but also let you know what  can be done so if you fall in love with something that doesn’t fit quite right or if you find an amazing deal at Nordstrom Rack/Good Will/eBay, you may be able to snag it. Let’s face it, although social media would have us believe otherwise, none of us live Pinterest perfect lives.  Hell, we can’t even pretend too.  With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to share some of the worst things we’ve ever worn to work as actual adults who should have known better.    Katie 1: Besides taking the interview attire advice offered by my law school career services office too literally (because we ALL did that), I would have to say that the most cringe-worthy workwear mistake I’ve made involves a really lovely Banana Republic suit that I bought at the Salvation Army.  Said suit was in my size but a Tall. I’m 5’4”.  Clearly this required pretty extensive alterations that I naively thought my dry cleaner could handle.  I. Was. So. Wrong. Oh good lord was I wrong. As we've noted previously, a good portion of our content will be offering real world commentary on corporate fashion blogs that we've read over the years. We are the first to admit that as newly minted professionals we relied heavily on the content in various corporate fashion blogs when building our working wardrobes. We are also the first to admit that many of the blogs we now snark on have previously provided us with sound workwear advice. Although, notably, most of this advice was given when the  blogger didn't show her face and still had an actual job other than blogger. Thinking about this advice, each of us wanted to share the best and worst work fashion advice they have ever received via a corporate fashion blog.
