Shoes Day Tuesday: Fun Shoes!

[We know the title of this post is a little misleading because just about ALL SHOES are fun, but go with it.]

We are back today with Shoes Every Woman Needs recommendations. When we introduced the category in the initial post, we all pretty much agreed that a woman should have an animal print shoe in her arsenal. Katie 2 and Elizabeth also each showed a floral pair they already own. We are here today to give you all sorts of recommendations of fun shoes to kick up your fun factor!

Frugal (less than $100)
  1. In the initial post of shoes every woman needs (and since) we have sang our praises for leopard print. We hope by now you have invested in some leopard print for your wardrobe, so we will take this opportunity to suggest some snake skin instead. Normally these would fall into the mid-line category, but lucky you! These Cole Haan Amelia Grand Pumps are on sale!
  2. Katie 2 loves black and white so these glen plaid pumps may be hers in the near future   (Katie 1 and Elizabeth are both morally opposed to Ivanka Trump brand products. Katie 2 totally gets it, but the brand makes quality products at a good price. And in an effort to accommodate all tastes, she is recommending them.)
  3. The color on these is beautiful, and so is the price. Katie 2 hasn’t bought shoes from Aldo in years because they hurt her feet and they don’t last forever, but for $42.50, go for it!
  4. These Sarto by Franco Sarto are pretty floral, and despite the sling-back, they look right on the mule trend.
  5. The Desi kitten heel pump offers a pattern for every season. Pick one or pick up all 9!!
  6. Here is a bonus pair for you flat-shoe wearing ladies.

Mid-Line ($100 to $200)
  1. Go nuts with color! Try this Zala Pump in the beautiful light purple suede. The sturdy, lower heel means it will probably be more comfortable for long days. (Also, apparently this is a very common style for the season. I’m finding a very similar shoe at tons of stores. But no one has a color quite like this one.)
  2. These are just beautiful. Way to go, Ted Baker. (And Katie 1 for finding them.)
  3. If you get these in Raisin color, they’re “fun”. We aren’t recommending them in red because we have a separate “red shoe” recommendation post coming in a month or two!
  4. We love black watch (in case you missed it, go back and check out the post and the 5 days of Instagram posts!) so we have no choice but to show you black watch tartan loafers.
  5. Look lady-like in tweed
What Katie 1 spends (More than $200)
  1. For the record, these aren’t leopard print, they’re cheetah.
  2. WE LOVE TARTAN so naturally we liked these. Act fast though because sizes are super limited.
  3. Katie 1 loves the fuchsia, and Katie 2 thinks that a royal blue shoe is highly underrated. Either one is a good choice.
  4. Save $100 on these floral brocade pumps. We are loving them.
  5. We should probably stop doing these shoe recommendations posts, because Katie 1 always ends up finding shoes she loves. She will probably end up buying these beauties. And Katie 2 might also, because why shouldn’t she?

Workout Wednesday: Let's Discuss that NYT Article

By know we've all read (or read about) that New York Times  opinion piece shaming women for wearing anything other than sweatpants to the gym. We're not going to link to it here because we don't want to send additional traffic to the website; however, THIS article from Jezebel  sums the article up quite nicely (make sure to check out the comments, they're gold). In short, the author of the opinion piece wears sweatpants to the gym, doesn't see anyone else wearing them and then proceeds to shame women for (1) wanting to look nice in their workout clothing; and (2) wearing anything other than baggy sweats to the gym. The article also cultivates the very thing that the author claims the proliferation of the yoga pants culture seems to cultivate: it shames women for dressing how they want, when they want.  The overarching theme of women shaming aside (because we don't have the time to go into that), most of the points that the author makes in the article are jus...

Mad for Plaid: An entire post dedicated to Black Watch Tartan

Confession: Katie 1 has a slight obsession w/ Black Watch Tartan. Why? First, because it’s a combination of her favorite colors.  Second, the Duchess of Cambridge.  Third, it has a pretty cool history which makes it even more fun to wear.  It’s fairly common knowledge that Black Watch tartan is named for the 43rd Royal Regiment, commonly known as the Black Watch.  Did you know that Black Watch tartan actually pre-dates the formation of the 43rd Royal Regiment?  In fact, one of the theories behind why the 43rd is called the Black Watch is because of the very dark appearance of their uniform tartan (which we now know as Black Watch tartan).  So how deep does Katie 1’s obsession go?  She could wear a different item of Black Watch tartan every day for more than a week obsessed.  Want proof? Here’s a list of all of the Black Watch items in her wardrobe. Blazer Work Dress Casual Dress Side Zip Ankle Pants Front Zip Ankle Pants Trousers Ski...

Back to Basics: The Sheath Dress

We're back with the second post in our series of basic pieces that working women should have in their wardrobes. If you missed our first, go back and check it out . The goal is to show you those items we come back to time and time again and show you a few ways to wear them so you 1) get some mileage out of the pieces and 2) you don't look (or feel) as though you're wearing the same thing every day. The capsule wardrobe. Be honest- how many times have you pinned it? (Katie 1 would like you to know she's has NEVER pinned it. She has no desire whatsoever to create a capsule wardrobe thankyouverymuch.) Whether it's for vacation or every day, we search for those elusive few pieces that we can mix-and-match in a million different ways to create an entire month's worth of outfits with just seven pieces! We here at Not a Corporate Fashun Blog have no mastered the capsule wardrobe. We, just like you, wake up in the morning with a closet packed full of stuff and ...
