Cheap! Cheap! Workout Wednesday

So we weren't planning on posting for Workout Wednesday this week and we usually try to steer away from workout clothing recommendations because everyone does that, but our lunchtime online shopping compelled us to post.  Why? Because the We Made Too Much section of Lululemon's website has some AMAZING finds right now, including an awesome selection of gym bags (and you know how important we think gym bags are).

We're particularly fond of the following items (and we'll let you know which ones we own and love).

Tops:
  • Available in a ton of colors and sizes, the ever popular Cool Racerback Tank is reduced to between $34 and $29.
  • Also available in 3 colors and most sizes, our absolute favorite cold weather long sleeve running top (which also doubles as a base layer for skiing), the Rest Less Pullover is reduced to between $49 and $69.  Guys - THIS IS A STEAL and it will sell out so get thee to Lululemon and buy it RIGHT NOW.
Sports Bras:

Disclaimer: we're hesitant to recommend sports bras because what works for us might not work for everyone in the sports bra department because we come in all shapes and sizes.  However, some of our tried and true bras are on sale, so take that for what it's worth.
  • A relatively new addition to Katie 1's sports bra wardrobe is this Break Free Bra which she purchased on sale in New York.  So far, she's been pleased and loves the Culture Clash Starlight print.  At $39 its a good deal.
  • Katie 1 also has this Invigorate Bra and loves it, especially at the discounted price of between $39 and $29.
Bottoms:
  • We're huge fans of Lululemon's Nulux fabric and at $79 the Break Free Crop (available in most sizes in blue and the print, lucky sizes in black) are a really good deal!
  • We've recently discovered the Train Times Crop and LOVE IT.  It's the perfect gym crop and its available in a ton of colors and sizes and is a steal at $59.
Bags/Accessories:
Please note that this list is only a very small sampling of the items available so get thee to Lululemon's website and thank us later!

Sweater Weather

The time is upon us! There are a million ways we could divide up our recommendations for you today, but we've decided to go with just a few that are realistic needs for working women. That being said, we think everyone should invest in (at least a few) great cashmere sweaters. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg, either. Neiman Marcus Last Call and Lands' End ( yes, we really do love it ) offer some of the best cashmere for your buck. Wear to Work:  Because this is kind of the whole point of the blog... This might be the best recommendation we have for you. It's a completely basic crew neck sweater that is 100% cashmere. Oh, and it 's only $100. And it comes in 13 colors. Seriously. It doesn't get much better.  Katie 2 LOVES a turtleneck. She loved them in the late 80s and early 90s under her oversized sweaters and she loves them now. We don't like to recommend obvious places to shop, but Banana has been doing the classic turtleneck for years ...

Workout Wednesday: The Push-up

We wanted to take today to discuss the benefits of one of the most useful (and hated) of all exercises: the push-up.  First off, why should you even care? It's a great exercise to do any time, any where. No equipment needed. It targets multiple muscle groups. Get a lot of bang for your workout buck. This is really 2b: It's good for your core. A strong core improves your posture and can help prevent lower back pain (something you will struggle with if you sit a lot during the day and as you're getting older).  Calorie-torching! (Let's call this one "2c".) Because you're using so many muscle groups, you burn more calories with a push-up than you will for other strength exercises that involve only one muscle. (Want to burn even more calories? Do a burpee- a push-up and a squat jump. They're awful. Katie 1 says that Katie 2, the primary author of this post, is evil for even mentioning burpees.) They can be done no matter your fitness level. Yo...

Pajama Day!

No, we don't have a day where we can wear jammies to work (but that would be awesome). It is a day when we want to talk about spring pajamas. You may be the type of person that puts on an old ratty t-shirt for bed, or maybe you go all out every night with a full matching pajama set. Either way, we are of the opinion that you should have at least some "can be worn in 'public'" pajamas for things like work trips, family get-togethers, bachelorette parties, and the like. By this point you probably know the drill: we're going to recommend some spring pajama options that we like.  Rather than our standard "here are some options at a variety of price points", we're going to group our recommendations by pajama type. Traditional Pajamas: Think old school pajamas here. Long button up top with matching pants or something like that. Here are some spring options that we're loving. You can't get more classic than these Lauren Ralph Lauren c...
